This Is Us
We held an open call for New Mexican artists for our inaugural exhibition. The only prohibitions on the subject matter of the work were that the works could not promote gratuitous violence, sexism, or nationalism.
This Is Us was intentionally unjuried, so we accepted everyone. We wanted artists to submit work that they were happy with. The result is an exhibition filled with beauty, surprise, and vibrance: 148 New Mexico arts submitted a staggering 350 artworks. The submissions include paintings, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, woodturning, pastel, clay, and drawings. The artists are a diverse group, too, including many of the ethnicities found in New Mexico and hailing from around the state.
Because this was our first exhibiton, it was important to us that the artists receive 100% of the commissions.
